Loire Valley 11 days

Biking through the Valley of the Kings

From Angers to Blois, you will often have the impression of stepping back into the Renaissance era as you pedal along the route of the famous French chateaux, the crown jewels of the Hexagon’s architectural heritage. That of Amboise includes the tomb of Léonard de Vinci, while that of Chenonceau, which owes its existence and elegance to prominent women such as Diane de Poitiers and Catherine de Médicis, is known as the Château des Dames. That of Cheverny, one of the most popular in the region, was Hergé’s inspiration for the creation of the Château de Moulinsart in Les Aventures de Tintin, while that of Blois was the favourite residence of the kings of France during the Renaissance. And for the grand finale, you will stop in Île-de-France to visit the residence of Louis XIV - the mythical Château de Versailles. Nowhere does the maxim “My home is my castle” ring truer!
