Sardinia

Discreetly charming

Less travelled than Corsica, Sardinia features a gentler terrain than its French neighbour and has maintained a slightly primitive side. Known for its subtle charm, it offers rich vegetation, peaceful serenity and a wealth of well-preserved villages. The proposed routes, mainly on its west coast, are quiet and full of breathtaking seascapes. Here, the distant past – as reflected in its Nuraghes (cone-shaped stone towers from the Bronze Age), Roman ruins or the ramparts surrounding Cagliari – melds seamlessly with the present, where the pace of life is slow, as eloquently demonstrated by the many local lizards! It all adds up to a wonderful Italian lifestyle, where the culinary delights include porcheddu (suckling pig), culurgiones (ravioli), goat cheese and almond cake. Be forewarned: you won’t want to leave!
