Isle of Beauty

“Often conquered, never subdued,” Corsica will challenge you. The infinite sea, never-ending roads, interminable passes: can you solve the riddle of this place without losing your bearings? A place so untamed that even the boars run wild. Just hop on your bicycle, and the cycling cavalcade will lead you to the ends of the earth . . . and to the very edges of bottomless cliffs. Enigmatic, the island cultivates mystery. Why do its pinhead-shaped stones seem so intent on throwing themselves into the sea? Like an outstretched hand, with the hollows of its phalanxes and rocky folds, the island seems to beckon. Truly impregnable? Remember, “often conquered…”
