Haut-Languedoc and Basses-Pyrénées

Delightful pilgrimage

Quiet country roads, essentially the same travelled for centuries by the pilgrims of St. James and the hikers of today, will take you from Gothic churches to Roman monasteries, from rustic towns to quaint villages. Between the starting point of Espalion, in Aveyron, and the final destination of Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, in the Basque Country, the itinerary is also a delight in every respect – including gastronomic, since the regions explored include Lot, Gers and Tarn-et-Garonne, famous for truffles, duck, foie gras, Armagnac and Cahors wines. For a good dose of fun, history and physical exertion - you are on the right path. It should be noted that this amazing route allows you to spend two nights in each of the four stopover towns, giving you more freedom to set your own pace.
