San Francisco-Santa Barbara

The mythical highway 1

You will be in heaven as you pedal the mythical highway 1 between San Francisco and Los Angeles, along the beautiful Pacific Coast. In fact, you will want to get off your bicycle just to admire the scenery. And you will be able to choose between the affluent urbanism of the 17-Mile Drive and its famous Lone Cypress in Monterey; the elephant seals on the San Simeon Beach; the Bixby Bridge of the charming Big Sur; and a taste of the good life in Santa Barbara. Nicknamed the American Riviera, it is lined with beaches, set against the mountains, revealing here and there a Spanish architectural past, stemming from the Franciscan Mission established here in 1786. Top it all off with some free time in L.A. and you will have a trip to remember!
