Travel insurance
The content of this section is provided for informational purposes only. It is the responsibility of each traveler to obtain adequate travel insurance based on their place of residence and the country they are visiting. In order to better assist you during your trip, we ask that you complete the "Traveler Registration" form.
Please note that we offer you the option of purchasing coverage through our travel insurance partner, Blue Cross. Contact us for more information.
Travel cancellation or interruption insurance and medical care
To travel with peace of mind, every traveler should always have travel insurance. It is important to review your existing insurance policies and, if necessary, purchase additional coverage to ensure you are adequately protected.
Coverage provided by a credit card or personal insurance
If your trip is insured through your credit card or other personal insurance, check to see if it meets your needs. Does it include coverage for medical care and hospitalization abroad? Does it include cancellation insurance covering all non-refundable travel expenses paid in advance, as well as trip interruption insurance? Does it include coverage for lost or stolen luggage? After analyzing the situation, you will be able to determine whether or not you need to purchase additional insurance.
Coverage provided by the Régie de l’assurance maladie du Québec (RAMQ)
Visitramq.gouv.qc.cafor more information on the health coverage provided to all Quebec residents when traveling within or outside Quebec.
Since healthcare costs outside Quebec are usually higher, it is essential to purchase private travel insurance that covers all or part of the costs not reimbursed by the Régie.
Insurance covering unforeseeable and unpredictable events
Vélo Québec Voyages reminds you of the importance of checking whether your trip cancellation/interruption insurance covers unforeseeable and unpredictable events.
Insurance covering damage, theft, or loss of luggage and bicycles
Vélo Québec Voyages assumes no responsibility for loss, theft, or damage to your luggage and personal belongings (including your bicycle) during your trip. It is your responsibility to have adequate insurance for your luggage and bicycle. Please note that many home insurance companies, some group insurance plans, and certain credit cards cover property damaged or stolen outside the home. Check with the relevant authorities.
In addition, if you have taken out Blue Cross insurance with us, you can find out about the terms and conditions of the baggage cover by reading the "Insured Person's Guide."

Schedule for the stay
Departure point for the trip and parking
Three weeks before your trip, we will provide you with the full details of the departure point, parking areas, and meeting time. You can leave your vehicle in a designated area at the departure site. However, Vélo Québec Voyages accepts no responsibility for theft or vandalism.
If you have chosen a destination that includes a bus shuttle at the start of the trip, your bike will be transported by truck. When loading your bike, it must be stripped of all equipment (panniers, helmet, locks, etc.). Bikes will be protected by blankets, but you are free to further protect your bike by wrapping the frame, for example, with Styrofoam rolls used to insulate water heater pipes.

Hotel stay itinerary
You will share your room with the person accompanying you. If you are traveling alone, we will pair you with someone of the same gender. Depending on the city and the number of participants on the trip, the group may be accommodated in one or two hotels. The list of hotels where you will be staying will be sent to you by email three weeks before your departure.
When leaving the hotel, we ask that you return your key to the front desk and settle any charges for products and services purchased at the hotel (e.g., telephone calls, minibar).
If you plan on not staying at the hotel on certain nights during your trip, please always inform the guide so that no one worries.
What about your bike? It will spend the night in your room or in a secure area provided for this purpose. We recommend that you lock it up at all times.
In case of mechanical problems on the route
We recommend that you have your bike fully serviced before you set off. A bike in good condition is the first guarantee of a successful trip.
For minor issues (adjustments, flat tires, etc.), the guide will be able to assist you and get you back on the road. You can reach them by phone at any time so that they can help you out or, in the event of a major breakdown, take you to the nearest bike shop.
That said, nothing beats autonomy if you want to get back on the road in a matter of minutes! For a list of basic parts and tools to bringwith you, see the section"Packing and checklist ↑."
In case of fatigue or discomfort during the race
If you are unable to complete the day's ride due to fatigue, illness, or a major mechanical problem, the support vehicle will take you and your bike to the next stage town.

Tips
Restaurants, bars, and taxis
For all our trips, gratuities are included in the group meals included in your package; however, wine service is at your discretion.
In restaurants, bars, and taxis, each destination has its own customs and practices regarding tipping. Ask your guide at your destination for more information.
Guides and Driver
Tips for guides and, if applicable, drivers are not included in the price of the packages. Although the amount of the tip is left to the discretion of the traveler, it is customary to leave one. Generally, $5 to $10 per day, per person, is paid to the Vélo Québec Voyages guide, who performs all the tasks involved in running the trip: transporting luggage from one hotel to another, providing mechanical and medical support, planning the itinerary, booking hotels, planning meals, etc.
For trips that also include a local guide and a driver for bus transfers within the itinerary, it is suggested that the tip be divided among the various participants.
