Setting out from Córdoba, the capital of Andalusia with its charming historic center, you’ll be delighted to discover Spain’s sunniest region, the birthplace of flamenco and a mecca for bullfighting. Andalusia also boasts a fabulous architectural heritage left behind by the Moorish rule that lasted fromthe 8thtothe 15thcentury.
Seville offers a striking example of this: the Real Alcázar Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Andalusian capital is also worth visiting for its narrow streets and flower-filled courtyards (in the Santa Cruz neighborhood) as well as its vast terraced gardens along the river, accessible via the Paseo de Cristóbal Colón.
Your cycling route will then take you to Arcos de la Frontera, a town perched on a rocky outcrop overlooking the surrounding hills. From there, you’ll continue along the mountainside on the popular and picturesque White Villages Route, so named for the whitewashed houses. Exploring Andalusia on two wheels—a brilliant choice in more ways than one!
