From the Provence of the Popes to the Luberon – Self-guided
Duration: 8 days and 7 nights
Duration
14 nights
Level
3 - Moderate - hilly, sometimes mountainous - 50 to 80 km
In Italy, with its boot-shaped geography, the Riviera, which runs along the Mediterranean coast in the north of the country, is in a way the equivalent of the knee. On this sunny route, you can choose between a seaside route, mainly between Diano Marina and Viareggio, or a more challenging climb into the hinterland.
Along the way, you will pass through Genoa, birthplace of explorer Christopher Columbus, and have the opportunity to visit Cinque Terre and its spectacular villages perched on steep cliffs, whose multicolored beauty has earned them a place on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The last third of your trip will take a more cultural turn as you leave the coast and cycle east towards Pisa and Florence. This is Italy at its most charming, and you may find yourself bowing down in admiration!
