On this nine-day trip, you’ll be able to fully appreciate the endless beaches and the charm of the region’s historic towns, thanks to an itinerary centered around four stopover towns.
Are you blown away by Faro’s historic district and its Roman walls? Take a day off to explore it from top to bottom. Did a surfer from Portimão catch your eye? Spend the day on the magnificent Praia da Rocha beach watching these athletes ride the waves. Add a few free hours in Lisbon to round out the trip, and you’ve got an exciting itinerary where you can choose the pace and intensity.

Day 1
Arrival in Lisbon and transfer to Aljezur (3.5 hours).
Day 2
A rest day or a loop route via Arrifana, Aljezur, Carrascalihno, Rogil, and Monte Clérigo. Alternative route via Fortaleza da Arrifana and Praia da Amoreira (42–60 km).
Day 3
Aljezur, Carrapateira, Vila do Bispo, Raposeira, Hortas do Tabual, Figueira, Salema, Burgau, Luz, Lagos. Optional detour via Praia da Ingrina, Praia do Zavial, Ponta da Piedade, Praia da Luz. (72 to 83 km).
Day 4
Rest day or loop via Praia da Luz and Barão de São João. Alternative route via Burgau, Salema, Budens, and Barão de São Miguel. (36 or 59 km).
Day 5
Lagos, Meia, Odiáxere, Arão, Mexilhoeira Grande, Portimão. Alternative route via Montes de Cima (46–58 km).
Day 6
Rest day or loop via Valverde, Montes de Cima, Monchique, Alferce, and Porto de Lagos (43–75 km).
Day 7
Portimão, Lagoa, Algós, Tunes, Paderne, Vale de Judeu, Almancil, Faro (82 km).
Day 8
A rest day or a loop route via Estoi, Peral, São Brá de Alportel, Alportel, São Romão, and Telheiro. Alternative route via Coav da Muda, Javali, and Barranco do Velho. (52–75 km).
Day 9
Transfer from Faro to Lisbon (3 hours).
Day 10
Transfer to Lisbon Airport and return to Montreal.
