Scenic roads and the Atlantic Ocean
Discover the Cabot Trail, a magnificent scenic route along the coast of Cape Breton Island, between sea and mountains. The trail follows the island's north coast, climbing up to the Highlands National Park for breathtaking views of the Atlantic.
From here, you'll reach Chéticamp, the region's center of Acadian heritage, for an overview of the region's Francophone culture. You'll then head for Sydney and its pretty harbour, via the Bras d'Or lake and its quiet roads. Take the opportunity to visit the Fortress of Louisbourg, the largest reconstruction of an 18th-century French fortified town on the continent. Jean Cabot captured the beauty of the region in 1497. Now it's your turn to do the same!
