Switzerland is best explored at your own pace, and cycling is undoubtedly the most beautiful way to do so. With this new destination, we invite you to cross the country from Lucerne to Geneva, passing along lakeshores, through valleys, and past historic towns. Our itinerary features nine stopover towns, so you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy them.
We begin in Lucerne, on the shores of Lake Lucerne, with a first free day to explore the region at your leisure. We then drive to Solothurn, and on to Bern, the federal capital, with its medieval charm. In Interlaken, nestled between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz, you’ll have a free day to tour Lake Thun. After taking a ferry across Lake Brienz, we’ll travel up the Rhône Valley to Brig, then on to Sion. We’ll conclude our journey on the shores of Lake Geneva, from Montreux to Geneva, passing through Lausanne.
This Level 4 tour is designed for experienced cyclists, with daily rides ranging from about 35 to 90 km. On your free days, you can choose between an additional bike loop or a day spent exploring the towns on foot. A Vélo Québec Voyages guide will accompany you throughout the tour, along with a support vehicle. We’ll also handle the transport of your luggage.

Day 1
Meet at the Basel-Mulhouse Airport and transfer to Lucerne (1 hour 30 minutes).
Day 2
A day off or a loop around Lake Lucerne, via Küssnacht, where every turn offers a completely different view of the lake. In Weggis, the flower-filled gardens and waterfront terraces invite us to stop for a coffee break. Then on to Vitznau to take the ferry to Beckenried. In Vitznau, the contrast between the blue sky and the Rigi massif framing the village is striking. Return via Buochs, Stansstad, Hergiswil, and Horw.
Distance: 58 km
Day 3
We leave behind the lakeside and alpine landscapes of Central Switzerland to cross the Mittelland, characterized by rolling hills, farms, and small towns. Lucerne, Rothenburg, Sempach, Sursee, Dagmersellen, Pfaffnau, Roggwil, Aarwangen. In Wangen an der Aare, take a moment to explore the historic center and its famous wooden bridge before continuing on to Luterbach. End your journey in Solothurn, a city with a historic Baroque center and remarkable architecture.
Distance: 82 km
Day 4
The day gets off to a leisurely start between Solothurn and Grenchen, which offer sweeping views. In Biel, Lake Biel and the Jura Mountains add depth to the landscape. The town of Aarberg is worth a quick stop to explore its historic center. The rest of the day is marked by rich ecological diversity and beautiful forest scenery, particularly in Niederried and Wohlen bei Bern. The journey ends in Bern, a magnificent city listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Distance: 70 km
Day 5
Start in Bern and head toward the Alps: along the way, you’ll pass through Belp, Toffen, Kirchdorf, Uttigen, and Uetendorf. The shores of Lake Thun, with its turquoise waters and peaks that seem to rise straight out of the water, are sure to impress you. Spiez Bay is another beautiful spot to take a break. Finally, you’ll return to alpine scenery and end the day on a high note in Interlaken.
Distance: 60 km
Day 6
A day off or a loop around Lake Thun via Därligen, Spiez, Thun, Oberhofen, and Merligen. This loop lets you take in Lake Thun, visiting both its north and south shores. The lake is visible throughout the loop, and the landscape alternates between castles, vineyards, and the Alps.
Distance: 50 km
Day 7
Ferry between Interlaken and Brienz, followed by a transfer to Oberwald.
Day 8
Don’t underestimate today’s short 47-km route! As you leave Ulrichen, you’ll wind your way through the flower-filled meadows of the Conches Valley. Münster and Mühlebach are historic villages where the traditional Swiss timber-framed houses are well worth a visit. In Grengiols, you’ll see villages perched on the mountainsides, offering breathtaking views of the Rhône Valley below. The day ends in Brig, where you can enjoy the comforts of the town, all while the mountains seem so close.
Distance: 47 km
Day 9
Here, the Rhône Valley widens and the climate changes, becoming drier. Raron, with its hilltop church, piques the curiosity of visitors. You’ll pass through Varen, a wine-growing village where the dry, sunny climate creates a Mediterranean atmosphere. Head toward Sierre and then Sion, where you can explore vineyards, orchards, mountains, and ruins under the sun.
Distance: 62 km
Day 10
A day of leisure or a loop hike via Grône, Chalais, Sierre, and St-Léonard. This loop offers farmland scenery, typical Valais villages, and views of the mountains and the Rhône Valley. In St-Léonard, a visit to the underground lake is a must!
Distance: 38 km
Day 11
Leave the wine-growing region of Central Valais. As you approach Dorenaz, the mountain ranges close in around the valley, and the landscape becomes less agricultural and more rugged. In St-Maurice, the landscape narrows so much that it feels as if you’re passing between the rocks. Its abbey is worth a visit. As you approach Noville, the landscape becomes more humid: you’re getting closer to the mouth of the Rhône, and in Villeneuve, you catch a glimpse of Lake Geneva, an impressive expanse of water. The day ends in Montreux, where you’ll be happy to settle in for two nights!
Distance: 74 km
Day 12
A free day or a loop route to enjoy the panoramic views of Lake Geneva and the Pre-Alps in the distance, via Blonay, Châtel-St-Denis, and Vevey. Optional loop via Écoteaux, Bossonnens, and Attalens.
Distance: 34 to 47 km
Day 13
Before reaching Lausanne, the Lavaux vineyards—a UNESCO World Heritage Site—offer a breathtaking view, with terraced vineyards sloping down toward Lake Geneva. The route follows the lake to Geneva, passing through more urban stops along the way: Lausanne, Morges, Rolle, Nyon, Versoix, and finally Geneva, with its iconic water jet. On a clear day, you can see the mountains of Haute-Savoie across the lake.
Distance: 92 km
Day 14
A day of leisure or a loop route via Chêne-Bougeries, Choulex, Presinge, Jussy, Gy, Veigny, Foncenex, Anières, Collonge-Bellerive, and Cologny. This loop offers a more contemplative experience, winding through lush neighborhoods, vineyard landscapes, and country roads.
Distance: 41 km
