The Bright Light of Catalonia

On this 13-day cycling trip, the Mediterranean will be your gateway to and from the Catalan countryside, whose light captivated Salvador Dalí. Why not stop at the theater-museum in Figueres to appreciate his boundless imagination?

Are you more into history and architecture? Check out Sant Ferran Castle, the largest fortress in Europe, or head to Girona to walk along the ramparts surrounding the old town, Barri Vell. End your trip in Barcelona, a city with unique architecture, long, festive nights, and passionate, warm-hearted people!

Package includes

air transportation of the passenger, their luggage, and their bicycle on Air Transat;

transportation between the airport and the hotel at the destination, both on the way there and on the way back;

the bus transfer scheduled for Day 12;

11 nights in a three- or four-star hotel, based on double occupancy;

11 breakfasts and 1 dinner;

  • Transportation of luggage between each stopover city (one bag per person, maximum 20 kg) as well as transportation of the bike box;
  • The guide will map out the route and update the GPX data via Ride with GPS before the group sets out;
  • Supervision of a VQV guide;
  • Mechanical breakdown assistance and access to a replacement vehicle;
  • Sharing of GPX or Ride with GPS data, maps, and daily itineraries in electronic format 24 or 48 hours before departure;
  • Taxes;
  • Coverage under the Travel Agent Customer Compensation Fund (FICAV), which amounts to $1 per $1,000, as well as the applicable discount.

Day-by-Day Cycling Itinerary

Day 1

Meet at the Barcelona airport and transfer to Cadaqués (2 hours 30 minutes).

Day 2

A day off or loop routes via Roses, Castello d’Empúries, Sant Pere Pescador, Vilamacolum, Fortià, Peralada, and Vilajuïga. Loop route via El Port de la Selva (70 to 98 km).

Day 3

Cadaqués, Vilajuïga, Garriguella, Peralada, Vilabertran, Figueres. Option via Espolla and Cabanes. (42 to 63 km). Round trip via the Santuari de la Mare de Deu del Mont (125 km).

Day 4

A free day or a loop via Llers, Boadella d’Emporda, Darnius, and Pont de Molins. Alternatively, via Agullana, La Vajol, and Coustouges (49 to 105 km).

Day 5

Figueres, Navata, LLadó, Esponellà, Banyoles, Mieres, Santa Pau, Olot (72 or 76 km).

Day 6

A day off or loop routes via San Joan de les Abadesses, Sant Pau de Segúries, Campodron, Col d’Arès, Vallter 2000, Beget, and Castellfolit de la Roca (57 to 168 km).

Day 7

Olot, El Mallol, Sant Esteve d’en Bas, Les Planes d’Hostoles, Llorà, Canet d’Adri, Girona. Loop via El Far (71 to 105 km).

Day 8

A day off or loop routes via Canet d’Adrit, Llorà, or Anglès, Sant Hilari Sacalm, and Santa Coloma de Farners (61 or 95 km).

Day 9

Girona, Quart, Caldes de Malavella, Llagostera, Tossa de Mar. Option via Salionç (46 or 55 km).
