A Cycling Vacation in the Heart of Japanese History
Duration
15 nights
Level
4 - Advanced - rolling and mountainous - 50 to 90 km
This carefully curated itinerary, which focuses primarily on the Kansai region and the southern part of the country, offers an exciting taste of Japanese culture. Highlights include: modern Osaka; the wooden castle in Himeji—the most visited in the country; the historic capitals of Kyoto and Nara, rich in cultural heritage; and Mount Kōya, where you’ll spend the night in a monastery. And that’s not all!
Add to that a string of islands—including Shikoku and its 88 temples—connected by six bridges, Hiroshima, a 300 km/h ride to Kyoto aboard the Shinkansen train, and the traditional ryokan inns, and you have a memorable Japan, where beautiful weather, refinement, and culinary innovations greet each new day.
